When it comes to real estate, whether you're planning to buy some Nashville real estate or you're in the market and have put up your houses in Toronto for sale, you're going to hear a lot of real estate terms you've probably never heard of. Unless you're a real estate agent or have been involved in real estate transactions before then you are free of the responsibility of knowing what the terms being bandied about mean.

The world of real estate has its own lingo that they use when it comes to buying or selling Nashville or Toronto Beaches homes. You'll come across words or phrases you've never even heard before pretty much each and every single day you're shopping for homes or your home for sale is on the market. Since we know how difficult it can be to navigate a whole new world we've decided to help you out a bit and tell you about a real estate term you might hear.

Short sale. When it comes to real estate, be it Nashville or Richmond Hill homes for sale, a short sale is when a real estate property goes on the market after the owner of the home can no longer afford to pay off the mortgage payments on it. The owner, known as the borrower, will sign away their rights to house and turn over ownership to the bank they borrowed the money from to pay for the house. The bank, in this case, is known as the lender. You see so many Nashville or Edmonton foreclosures on the market and short sales are also becoming a more current theme in the real estate game.

The bank, or the lender, is willing to put the house up on the market and sell it for less than it's worth or they are owed in order to get something back. They'd rather accept less in a short sale than receive nothing at all from the current borrower. One good thing about taking part in a short sale transaction, as a buyer, is that you get the chance to purchase a home for far less than what it's worth. You should be careful though as whatever offer you make on the home will be looked at closely and the bank may not make a decision on your offer for weeks, or in some extreme cases, months. If you decide to try and buy a short sale home then you better be ready to deal with the wait.

Hopefully now you know much more about a short sale than you did before and will be able to encounter any potential short sale situations you might come across when looking at Nashville or Brantford homes for sale. Good luck!
